（《加拿大和世界报道》记者赵品成、张进2018年9月10号多伦多报道）经过两天紧张比赛，第三届加拿大熊猫杯国际乒乓球邀请赛于9月9日下午4点30分在加拿大万锦市嘉华球馆落下帷幕。 本次球赛有来自加拿大、中国（大陆及香港）、美国等专业队和业余队共85支球队600多名运动员参赛，两天的队际比赛场数超过300场，观众超过1000人次。这是加拿大乒乓球届最大规模的乒坛盛事，是一次乒乓球专业队员到业余爱好者欢聚一堂、无缝连接的聚会。

本次赛事历时两天，分别安排在8号（星期六）和9号（星期天）。比赛的形式为团体赛，每个队可以报名8个队员。两队之间的每次比赛可以选派4到5名队员上场，采用5盘3胜制，分别为单打（3局2胜），混合双打（3局2胜），双打（3局2胜），单打（3局2胜），单打（1局抢7）。报名在今年的春节期间就已经进行，原计划是80个队，在大多地区的很多同乡会、校友会、企业踊跃报名。有的拥有众多乒乓球爱好者的机构捷足先登，直接报了多个队伍参赛，报名名额很快就满了。还有很多希望参加本次比赛的球队没有报上名，只好放在“等待名单”上。比如在大多伦多地区有30个微信群、共1万5千会员的多伦多房东群社区，去年组队参赛并获得C组第一名的好成绩，今年因错过报名时机直到比赛前一个月才等来了熊猫杯组委会的最后通知得以组队参赛。第一天和第二天上午分别开展逐步淘汰定位赛，组委会精心设计了一个半循环赛赛制，各个队按抽签结果先打一个四队或五队的单循环，比出水平的高低。然后半循环赛的两个第一名再与上一届熊猫杯决定的种子队及由专业选手组成的专业队分在一组打一个四队单循环赛。其他第二到第五名则直接通过淘汰定位赛决定下一阶段的位置。通过这种赛制安排，在八个水平档次上各有八个球队，每个水平档次的八个队再进行一个淘汰定位赛，确定每个球队的最终名次。9日下午各个水平档次进行最后决赛，观众可以欣赏到各个水平档次上的巅峰对决。
