中国侨网4月28日电 据纽约《侨报》报道，在纽约布鲁克林八大道市警66分局服务超过20年的华裔警探梅国威(Michael Moy)以自己因华裔身份多年遭受白人同事欺凌为由，投诉纽约市警职场种族歧视现象。梅国威及其代表律师Fred Lichtmacher 当地时间27日公布涉事白人警察涉事细节，要求纽约市警部门平等对待少数族裔警察。

在市警66分局已工作24年的梅国威称，其所在的66分局警探小组的两位白人警探同事道森(Detective James Dawson)和卡瑞拉(Detective Anthony Carierra)，常年对自己进行种族歧视言语侮辱，甚至肢体攻击。“他没心肝(heartless)”、“去你的，我今天不上班！(Fuck You Jon! I Take Day Off)”“梅国威，他也曾为人(When He Was a Human)”。他表示，道森等人多次用自己的照片或以李小龙等华人形象制作成的侮辱性海报，这些内容指向种族歧视和侮辱性用词的海报，不但被贴供大家观看和揶揄，更被道森当做“趣事”放进警局内部的小册子“每日一句”收藏。
梅国威说，5年前一次争吵中，道森甚至当着多位同事的面掐住他的喉咙进行威胁，让其他同事更加无所顾忌，变本加厉地对他进行欺凌。梅国威指出，白人同事不但种族歧视、实施欺凌，更在办公室中放置游戏机等娱乐设备，于工作时间使用公家资源玩游戏。
律师Fred Lichtmacher表示，其当事人梅国威从警多年来曾多次遭到白人警察同事以种族玩笑海报和视频揶揄、言语侮辱、肢体攻击等方式进行种族歧视。24日已经向联邦公平就业机会委员会(简称EEOC)提交了其当事人在职期间屡次遭种族歧视的歧视投诉书，请求相关部门就此展开调查。这是在针对歧视提出法律诉讼之前的必经程序。
“66分局最近6名获升职的警探都是白人男性，我的工作成绩比其中5人都好，但就是得不到提升。”梅国威说，从警至今，他参与的涉枪抢劫案、入室盗窃案、谋杀案等重型案件的破案数量超过了400宗，但在2005年获升职为三级警探之后，至今仍未获得升职为二级甚至一级警探。而作为布鲁克林各分局警探小组中屈指可数的、拥有中文翻译认证资格的警察，他除负责日常警探工作之外，还要帮忙翻译，甚至跨分局提供语言协助。但这些额外的工作，并未令梅国威获得更多工资。
多年的言语侮辱和肢体威胁令梅国威苦不堪言，直至两年前他的女搭档也因少数族裔身份遭到种族歧视，在她的鼓励下，让梅国威有了挺身而出对抗种族歧视和欺凌的想法。今年3月22日，梅国威与女搭档在办公室准备案件文书，于是将办公室内的电视机声音调小以免影响工作，但不知何故电视机声音再次变大，梅国威于是走到电视机前将电视机关掉，道森走进办公室，两人随即发生肢体冲突，导致矛盾激化。

“纽约市警的职责是维护公共治安，而不是保护白人警察。”梅国威代表律师Fred Lichtmacher表示，尤其是像华裔这样的少数族裔警察，他们应该得到公平的对待，而不是任由白人同事欺凌。目前，他们将等待联邦公平就业机会委员会的回应，如有必要，将起诉到法庭。
梅国威的父亲于1946年从广东台山移民来美，母亲则在1966年左右从香港来美，他在布鲁克林出生并在曼哈顿长大。现年49岁的他1995年加入纽约市警(NYPD)，从警察学院毕业之后便被分配至辖区包括布鲁克林八大道的市警66分局，从警员(P.O。)做起，十年后成为升职为警探。在此之前，他曾在药房工作。
